IT IS THE END OF OUR DEAR MONICA.

WE HAVE TO BE SINCERE, MONICA IS GOING TO FOLLOW LOSING AND DROPING PLACES AT THE RANK,THERE ARE MANY THINGS FOR THIS.

1.HER AGE,SHE IS ONE OF THE MOST VETERANS PLAYERS OF THE WTA.

 2.HER LEVEL HAVE DROPED MUCH.

3.SHE CAN NOT BEAT THE MOST POWERFUL PLAYERS OF THESE MOMENTS LIKE WILLIAMS,HENIN,KLIJTERS.

 4.HER INJURY

THIS YEAR HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE WORST OF MONICA.HAVE NOT WON ANYTHING AND MIGHT BE THAT DROP UNTIL 15 TH PLACE IN THE NEXTS RANKINGS.

WE expect that it is not the end and that she can win the title 10

 we love moni

How odd - only 1 post from oioioi, and a NEGATIVE one! Entitled to your view mate (and I have had major doubts recently) but I think you should balance it with what Monica can still give to her fans and tennis.

I do not agree with oioioi or whaterver your name is.

Monica is not fit because she did not play a full schedule. She is the type of player that plays t get fit and had no luck this year. She can still slug it with the best. And franckly if Hingis could win 5 slams so could Monica.

Maybe not number one any more but could win a slam if she is given the chance by her injuries.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, RIGHT...

1. Steffi Graf won her last Grand Slam a few years ago and she was older than Monica... Navratilova is 46 and still winning titles in doubles. Age has nothing to do with Monica's problems this year.

2. Monica is focusing on her foot injury since the beginning of the year. I am pretty sure Monica would be at last year's level without the injury.

3. Monica can beat the top players. Serena is the most serious opponent but remember the last few meetings between the two players... It was very good matches. Venus is not as hot as she was a few months ago. Clijsters and Henin are hot but I honestly think Monica can beat them if she plays her best. And I think Monica can defeat any other player on the WTA Tour (still without the injury).

4. Her injury... that's the only reason for Monica's troubles this year. Wow... you were right on that one oioioi! ;-)

that could mean a good thing for Monica- surgery then coming back to win maybe the same slam- roland garros or maybe aussie open.  either way, age is not really a factor in this plus that darn injury is the main thing hampering her right now.

imagine if she was fit in the finals of tokyo and dubai then she has 2 titles now but thanks to the iniury, she isnt playing that well right now w/c is really acceptable coz no player would be able to play their best with an injury like Monica's

I hate to correct YOU ERRINELLA,but there is nothing too wrong with 'oioioi' and his/her spelling. It is the GRAMMAR that is wrong.

look at Conchita Martinez, she got injured for like several months, and she was like in her 50's or 60's in the ranking and look at her now shes creeping in top 20 again.

I think she can be in the mix if she is healthy and fit. I agree with the statement made earlier about Steffi. Monica admits (see Tennis Magazine interview from April) she never took her fitness as seriously as she should have. This has caught up with her. Also, Steffi was and is an amazing athelete. It was often said she would have qualified for the German team in the 200 meter run. Monica, even in her prime, was never blessed with such speed. What she is blessed is excellent hand-eye cordination, a competitive fire and an understanding of the game.

I hope she can stay healthy and fit. She was looking great at the Aussie Open and you get the sense she was getting herself ready to challenge for a major title.

That's not likely to happen that Monica won't be seeded when entering a Grand Slam. As Grand Slam has 32 seeds, Monica still has room for some points.
